We have recently spotted a fox hanging around our yard every morning, and today we saw him mosey on over towards our coop. Our chickens are protected, but here are some ways to protect against animals like a fox. First, always keep an eye for anything that looks like a hole outside of the run or the coop, to see if anything is trying to get in. Also, a good idea for the coop is to have a wooden floor, not a dirt one, so that a fox can’t dig into the coop at night, or at any time for that matter, cutting the chance of a fox attack in half. Finally, you could try to exterminate the fox or foxes, or simply attempt to repel them. These procedures will probably reduce the chance of a fox attack.
I have to say it isn’t very nice to have them around when you have chickens. But is nice to see one. They are rather pretty. Just let him keep traveling by. I’m happy to get a look at him.
